Halitosis: What Causes Bad Breath and What Fixes It

Featured card for a halitosis guide showing a label panel with key bad breath numbers: 76% mouth source, 43% tongue coating and 50 percent of adults affected

Halitosis is the medical term for bad breath that lasts. In a study of 2,000 clinic patients, 76% had a cause inside the mouth, mostly tongue coating and gum disease. Dry mouth, tonsil stones, sinus problems, reflux and diabetes explain some of the rest. The most useful steps are daily tongue cleaning, flossing, a dental cleaning and a check for medical causes if it persists.
